The Boston Celtics have had many great players and moments. They have 37 players and six coaches in the Hall of Fame and have won 18 championships. But not all decisions were great. Sometimes, they kept players for too long and missed chances to improve the team.

Romeo Langford

The Celtics chose Romeo Langford in 2019, hoping he’d become a star. But injuries hurt him, and his stats were not impressive. Even though they kept him for two more seasons, he didn’t fit well with the team’s goals.

Enes Freedom

Enes Freedom had a good first season with the Celtics in 2019–20, scoring 8 points and getting seven rebounds per game. He was moved to the Portland Trail Blazers early in the next season but came back a year later. Sadly, his second stint didn’t work out.

Tacko Fall

Tacko Fall, who is 7-foot-6, seemed like a good pick for the Celtics in 2019, even though he wasn’t drafted. They signed him to a two-way contract. He played only seven games in his first season. In 2020, they gave him another chance, but without a G-League season, he didn’t get much playtime.

Semi Ojeleye

Semi Ojeleye, drafted in 2017, looked promising at 6-foot-6. However, he didn’t make a big impact on the court. Over four seasons, he played often but didn’t score much, averaging less than five points per game in his last season.

James Young

The Celtics picked James Young 17th overall in 2014, hoping he would be great. He didn’t live up to the hype. He played a little in his first year but didn’t make much of an impact. By the end of his third season, he was let go.
